I want to offer a sincere thanks to the House of Representatives from myself and many others in the community for your efforts last week to expedite Senate Bill 20-62 for the legalization of marijuana. While there was a technical issue that requires revenue-generating bills to originate in the House, the offer by Rep. Joe Guerrero to re-introduce the bill as a House bill speaks volumes to the intent of the House leadership to expedite the bill. <\/p>\n
It was very clear that an overwhelming majority of our representatives are in favor of the bill and it will surely pass as a House version. The need to make it a House bill is a minor setback. I am just glad the House did not sit on the bill; it only took two months for them to get it to the floor. A special thanks to Speaker Rafael Demapan and committee chair Ivan Blanco in expediting this bill through the process and getting it to the floor for a vote.<\/p>\n
