The debate among U.S. delegate candidates hosted by the Saipan Chamber of Commerce and the Northern Marianas College is slated for Sept. 20 at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center, from 6pm to 8:30pm. <\/p>\n
It will be a showdown between Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (Ind-MP) and Rep. Angel Aldan Demapan (R-Precinct 1). <\/p>\n
Separately, the 2018 Gubernatorial Debate between Gov. Ralph DLG Torres (NMI-GOP) and his challenger, former governor Juan N. Babauta, is slated for Sept. 25, 2018, also at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center, from 5:30pm to 8pm.<\/p>\n
The two debates will occur over separate dates to properly highlight both the gubernatorial and U.S. delegate issues. All tickets to the gubernatorial debate is sold out. <\/p>\n
As the debates near, we want to remind our patrons of the following rules: <\/p>\n
Cellular phone and\/or pages must be turned off or set to silent mode. If you absolutely must take a call, exit the hall quietly. To avoid any distractions, you will not be allowed to re-enter the hall until an intermission or until the debate has ended. <\/p>\n
Please refrain from talking during the debate to respect both candidates. <\/p>\n
The use of flash cameras is not permitted. Flash cameras may be used during an intermission or at the end of the debate.<\/p>\n
Hold your applause until intermission or at the end of the event. <\/p>\n
Banners or other types of signage are not permitted as they may distract the candidates and other audience members. <\/p>\n
Audience members may not display any promotional material supporting any candidate. These items include but are not limited to buttons, hats, T-shirts, lanyards, etc.<\/p>\n
Absolutely no betel nut chewing, no smoking, and no alcohol\/food consumption during this event as per venue regulations.<\/p>\n
Each candidate will be given equal time to answer questions submitted in advance by the public. The community is invited to submit questions to executive@saipanchamber.<\/p>\n
Delegate debate tickets were available for purchased starting yesterday, Aug. 14, at the Chamber office on the third floor of the Marianas Business Plaza, Suite 315.
