{"id":282439,"date":"2018-08-17T06:06:16","date_gmt":"2018-08-16T20:06:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=282439"},"modified":"2018-08-17T06:06:16","modified_gmt":"2018-08-16T20:06:16","slug":"tropical-storm-soulik-cancels-street-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/tropical-storm-soulik-cancels-street-market\/","title":{"rendered":"Tropical storm Soulik cancels Street Market"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday\u2019s strong rain, together with the rare flash of lightning and roaring thunder, ultimately cancelled the weekly Street Market at the Garapan Fishing Base.<\/p>\n<p>Lucy Selepeo, the performing arts coordinator in charge of handling the Street Market, said it was decided to cancel the weekly event as the weather refused to cooperate. <\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026We had an advisory this morning that there may be flooding. The strong winds might also blow away the tents,\u201d Selepeo told Saipan Tribune yesterday in a phone call late afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery time the weather [gets bad], we cancel the Street Market because of possible accidents due to the electric wires and the tents [being blown off].
