One of the twin brothers who were allegedly involved in a hit-and-run of a Chinese tourist was allowed Friday to post just 10 percent of his initial bail of $25,000.<\/p>\n
Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph Camacho granted the bail modification request of Vicente Mu\u00f1a that would allow him to post bail.<\/p>\n
Vicente Mu\u00f1a and his twin brother, Anthony Mu\u00f1a, allegedly mowed down a female tourist who was walking with a female friend on the shoulder of Beach Road. The two were also allegedly involved in several robbery cases victimizing tourists in Marpi and in Garapan. <\/p>\n
Vicente Mu\u00f1a\u2019s bail modification came with restrictions, prohibiting any contact with his brother and that he would be closely supervised by his third-party custodian, Brenda Mu\u00f1a. <\/p>\n
Muna is also prohibited from traveling and he is required to show up for all court hearings as well as keep in contact with his probation officer. <\/p>\n
According to Saipan Tribune archives, the Mu\u00f1a twins were arrested on charges of attempted robbery, conspiracy to attempted robbery, driving on highways laned for traffic, driving on right side of highway, reckless driving, driving under the influence of drugs, and accident.<\/p>\n
In a separate case, Mu\u00f1a was arrested on two counts of conspiracy to theft, theft, criminal mischief, and burglary, while his brother, Anthony Mu\u00f1a, 22, was arrested on charges of two counts of conspiracy to theft, and one count of theft.<\/p>\n
Mu\u00f1a was served with an arrest warrant back in July. <\/p>\n
Camacho imposed $50,000 cash bail each on defendants for the robbery case and imposed the $25,000 cash bail each on defendants for the hit-and-run case.<\/p>\n
In the hit-and-run case, Department of Public Safety received a call about the incident last June 8 at 1:31pm, in which a dark four-door sedan hit one of the two female tourists who were walking on the northbound shoulder of Beach Road.<\/p>\n
The victim suffered abrasions to the body and head injuries.<\/p>\n
Further review of the surveillance footages of the incident showed the right headlamp of the car had damage due to the collision.<\/p>\n
The footage also showed that the front passenger attempted to snatch the tourist\u2019s purse.<\/p>\n
After an extensive search around the island, the vehicle\u2014a turquoise 2010 Toyota Corolla with license plate ACA-729\u2014was found.<\/p>\n
