{"id":282765,"date":"2018-08-22T06:07:59","date_gmt":"2018-08-21T20:07:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=282765"},"modified":"2018-08-22T06:07:59","modified_gmt":"2018-08-21T20:07:59","slug":"chcc-issues-typhoon-prep-guide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/chcc-issues-typhoon-prep-guide\/","title":{"rendered":"CHCC issues typhoon prep guide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Because of the threat of Typhoon Cimaron, which just passed through the CNMI, the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. has issued these guidelines in preparation for future weather disturbances.<\/p>\n<p>CHCC advises the following high-risk groups to consider the health advisories:<\/p>\n<p>-Pregnant women who are experiencing preterm labor or pregnant women in their 32 weeks gestational period.<\/p>\n<p>Storms have been known to make pregnant women give birth earlier than their expected due date. CHCC encourages all women with a gestational age of 32 weeks and above to report once Typhoon Condition 2 is announced. Those who are experiencing early labor are encouraged to go to the Commonwealth Health Center immediately.<\/p>\n<p>If you plan to come to CHC, make sure to bring your identification information, a pillow, blanket, extra clothing, and other essential supplies including food and hydration.<\/p>\n<p>-Individuals who are on medical equipment requiring electricity (e.g. oxygen generators).<\/p>\n<p>Individuals who are on medical equipment requiring electricity should report to CHCC if they do not have a generator at home. Islandwide residential electricity should be expected to be turned off if storm conditions worsen. <\/p>\n<p>Do not report to the shelters if you have any of these conditions and report to CHCC.<\/p>\n<p>-Individuals on prescription medications and in need of medical supplies.<\/p>\n<p>Individuals should make sure their prescription medications and medical supplies can last them for at least three days. This is especially important for patients with diabetes, hypertension, or uncontrolled asthma.<\/p>\n<p>Contact the CHCC nursing supervisor on duty at 234-8950 for more instructions.<\/p>\n<p>Tune in to local radio stations, KSPN news, the channel 14 weather station, and\/or the Emergency Management Office\u2019s advisories for more information at 237-8000.
