{"id":282862,"date":"2018-08-23T06:00:29","date_gmt":"2018-08-22T20:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=282862"},"modified":"2018-08-23T06:00:29","modified_gmt":"2018-08-22T20:00:29","slug":"pss-sets-middle-school-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/pss-sets-middle-school-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"PSS sets Middle School Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Public School System will host a Middle School Conference in mid-September.<\/p>\n<p>The conference would be held from Sept. 12 through Sept. 13 at the Kanoa Resort in Susupe, from 9am through 1:30pm and 8:30am through 2pm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe overall goal of the conference is focused on promoting resiliency within our youth. We know that children are more likely to be resilient when they are supported on all fronts\u2014at home, at school and within the community\u2014and so an extension of that goal is to arm our parents with the means to do so,\u201d a PSS flyer noted.<\/p>\n<p>With the theme \u201cBuilding a Stronger We: Breaking the Stigma,\u201d the conference aims to create a \u201csafe space\u201d to address difficult-to-open conversations such as sexual health, mental health, and suicide prevention.<\/p>\n<p>Students and parents of students enrolled in grades 6 through 8 are invited to attend the conference, which is split into two days\u2014Sept.12, for the student conference and Sept. 13 for the parent conference.<\/p>\n<p>There will be breakout session hosted by the Division of Public Health Services under the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.; Systems of Care; the Garrett Lee Smith Suicide Prevention Office, along with other community organizations and businesses that offer extracurricular activities for families.<\/p>\n<p>Morning refreshments and lunch would be provided during both sessions. <\/p>\n<p>For more information contact your child\u2019s school administrative office or Jocelyn Itibus at 322-6760 or email her at jocelyn.itibus@cnmipss.org. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Public School System will host a Middle School Conference in mid-September.
