Lt. Gov. Victor B. Hocog, in his capacity yesterday as acting governor, directed that all American and CNMI flags be lowered to half-staff in honor of the life and service of Sen. John Sidney McCain III, who passed away on Aug. 25.<\/p>\n
In a proclamation Hocog signed yesterday, it said, \u201cAs a mark of respect for the memory and longstanding service of Sen. John Sidney McCain III, President Donald J. Trump has\u00a0hereby ordered that the flag of the United\u00a0States shall be flown at half-staff at the White\u00a0House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the federal government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United\u00a0States and its territories and possessions until sunset, on the day of interment.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe President has also directed that the flag shall be flown at\u00a0half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and\u00a0stations.\u00a0<\/p>\n
