A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.6 hit the CNMI this morning, Aug. 29, 2018, at around 8:35am.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Preliminary data from the U.S. Geological Service showed that the temblor\u2019s epicenter was located 230 kilometers from Garapan, Saipan.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
There is no tsunami threat from this earthquake, according to an advisory from the CNMI Emergency Operations Center-State Warning Point.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
It said the earthquake occurred at 8:35am about 87 miles southeast of Farallon de Mendinilla at a depth of 32 miles.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cCurrently, there are no reports of injuries or damages and no tsunami warnings or advisories were issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n
