{"id":283472,"date":"2018-08-31T09:10:32","date_gmt":"2018-08-30T23:10:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=283472"},"modified":"2018-08-31T09:10:32","modified_gmt":"2018-08-30T23:10:32","slug":"high-court-salary-hike-unconstitutional","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/high-court-salary-hike-unconstitutional\/","title":{"rendered":"High court: Salary hike unconstitutional"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CNMI Supreme Court ruled today, Aug. 30, 2018, that the 80-percent salary increase for executive, legislative, and judicial officers enacted through Public Law 19-83 is unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court reviewed section 10 of the CNMI Constitution that determines the requirements to enact a legislative salary increase while reviewing the <em>Manibusan v.
