{"id":283647,"date":"2018-09-03T06:06:55","date_gmt":"2018-09-02T20:06:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=283647"},"modified":"2018-09-03T06:06:55","modified_gmt":"2018-09-02T20:06:55","slug":"deadline-to-register-as-voters-is-this-friday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/deadline-to-register-as-voters-is-this-friday\/","title":{"rendered":"Deadline to register as voters is this Friday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commonwealth Election Commission is reminding CNMI residents that the deadline to register as a voter in the Nov. 6 general election is this Friday, Sept. 7. <\/p>\n<p>This Friday is also the deadline for CNMI voters to inform CEC about any changes in their information, said CEC administrative officer Kayla Igitol.<\/p>\n<p>Igitol said registered voters should provide them with an updated address, notify them if they have transferred precincts and if they have changes in their first or last names.<\/p>\n<p>CEC recently reported that there were over 18,200 registered voters in the CNMI for this year\u2019s election, which is a record-breaking number. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, CEC started opening the request for absentee ballots last Aug. 23. The deadline to make such request is Oct. 12.<\/p>\n<p>As of last week, Igitol said there were 345 voters who askeed for absentee ballots. At that time, CEC was still processing more requests.
