The McDonald\u2019s franchise on Saipan and Guam is now an official sponsor of the annual Field of Heroes commemoration ceremony. <\/p>\n
Yesterday, McDonald\u2019s Saipan and Guam donated $1,000 to the Tan Siu Lin Foundation, which will spearhead the 3rd Annual Field of Heroes ceremony that commemorates the lives of those who died during the 9\/11 tragedy, and those who lost their lives while serving their country. <\/p>\n
According Marcia Ayuyu, McDonald\u2019s Saipan and Guam owner, McDonald\u2019s just wants \u201cto show our support for the community in every way that we can.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ayuyu said that McDonald\u2019s strongly believes in keeping the memory of the nation\u2019s fallen alive. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe are proud to contribute to our fallen heroes because we shouldn\u2019t forget what they did for us. They protected our country,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
Catherine Attao-Toves, TanHoldings vice president for corporate affairs\/corporate HR, said the Field of Heroes event is intended \u201cto promote community awareness and to remember our heroes.\u201d<\/p>\n
Attao-Toves said the event is set around Sept. 11 to show appreciation and gratitude to all military veterans, first responders, fire law enforcement officers, and fallen heroes. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe money raised will be given to the Northern Marianas Humanities Council\u2026to help with post-traumatic stress. \u2026We want to continue to support our military families and our heroes that are coming back home\u2026and our community heroes,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
The Tan Siu Lin Foundation is encouraging the community to gather at the Garapan Fishing Base on Sept. 11, at 4:30pm. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe are going to do our freedom walk at 5pm to the American Memorial Park and immediately following will be the 9\/11 tribute ceremony,\u201d said Attao-Toves. <\/p>\n
Individuals interested in supporting the cause can make flag and T-shirt orders at the JP Center in Garapan or at the Shirley\u2019s Coffee Shop in Susupe. Flags can be ordered for $10 and will be posted at the American Memorial Park on the day of the event and T-shirts cost $15 each. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
