Having lost much of their belongings to the winds of Typhoon Mangkhut, many Rota residents are now scrounging for essential needs to tide them over until local and federal help arrives.<\/p>\n

Ayuda Luta, a donation drive organized by several CNMI government agencies and nonprofit organizations, is filling up a container van at the Garapan Fishing Base. It will be accepting nonperishable food, water and cleaning supplies for the people of Rota on Saturday, Sept.15, 2018, beginning at 7am.<\/p>\n
Chaired by J.J. Concepcion, Ayuda Luta will be in operation up to Sep. 22, 2018, from 7am to 3pm. Those interested in donating on Saipan may drop off their donations at the Garapan Fishing Base.<\/p>\n
All public schools on Saipan, along with some private schools, such as the Mt. Carmel School, are also collecting donations.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have all the [Public School System] schools accepting donations and then they would bring it over to the Fishing Base for preparation to ship,\u201d said interim Education commissioner Glenn Mu\u00f1a, adding that PSS would be setting up a booth at the Garapan Fishing Base to further accommodate those interested in donating.<\/p>\n
The Commonwealth Women\u2019s Association is collecting donations. Items such as children\u2019s clothing, non-perishable baby food, canned food items, rice, butane, paper products, school supplies, mosquito repellent, etc. may be dropped off at the Carolinian Affairs Office in Garapan today, Sept.14, 2018 by noon.<\/p>\n
Any donations after this deadline will be accepted at the Garapan Fishing Base tomorrow, Sept. 15, 2018, from 7am to 3pm. Contact 233-8978 for more information.<\/p>\n
On Tinian, the TWA Inc., in collaboration with members of the Tinian Mock Trial Team and Luta Cares, is collecting donations for disaster relief. The dropoff center on Tinian is at the Fleming\u2019s Mom and Pop Store from 9am through 7pm. The dropoff collections end tomorrow.<\/p>\n
Details for donation dropoff locations outside of San Francisco, California have yet to be announced.
