{"id":284827,"date":"2018-09-19T06:06:28","date_gmt":"2018-09-18T20:06:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=284827"},"modified":"2018-09-19T06:06:28","modified_gmt":"2018-09-18T20:06:28","slug":"48th-chief-aghurubw-day-to-be-held-on-managaha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/48th-chief-aghurubw-day-to-be-held-on-managaha\/","title":{"rendered":"48th Chief Aghurubw Day to be held on Managaha"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2018 Chief Aghurubw Day celebration would be held on Managaha Island\u2014as per tradition\u2014instead of the initial proposal at Micro Beach.<\/p>\n<p>According to Aghurubw Foundation vice president Mark Rabauliman, the initial proposal to hold the celebration at Micro Beach in Garapan, was scrapped after several discussion within the foundation, which is currently headed by president Kodep Ogumoro Uludong.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will still be on Managaha. \u2026[Micro Beach] was something to be explored, but majority of the committee voted for it to be held on Managaha,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The 2018 Chief Aghurubw Day celebration, which is the 48th iteration this year, marks the arrival of the first Carolinians in the CNMI. The group was led by Chief Aghurubw. They had come from the Caroline Islands, an archipelago of tiny islands in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, which at the time had just been hit by a powerful storm.<\/p>\n<p>According to Rabauliman, the committee chose Managaha for this year\u2019s celebration due to its historical significance.
