The Commonwealth Election Commission mailed yesterday 1,377 absentee ballots and will mail about 119 more tomorrow, Friday, according to CEC administrative officer Kayla Igitol. <\/p>\n
Igitol said the ballots that were mailed yesterday are for voters who are in the U.S. mainland, Guam, Switzerland, Canada, and Federated States of Micronesia.<\/p>\n
Of the 1,377 absentee ballots mailed, 10 are intended for those on Saipan.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are leaving on Saturday. They want to get their ballots before they leave, so they came in and applied for absentee voting,\u201d Igitol said.<\/p>\n
The second batch of 119 absentee ballots will be mailed tomorrow, Friday, but Igitol said they don\u2019t know yet where the ballots would go because they are still sorting or processing the ballots.<\/p>\n
Igitol said they\u2019re trying to see it they are able to process everything before Friday because the Office of the Public Auditor has a workshop next week and they won\u2019t be able to come down to CEC and inspect the ballots.<\/p>\n
Igitol said they will not send out anything next week but mail the next batch tomorrow. <\/p>\n
CEC may mail a total of four batches of absentee ballots as Oct. 12 is the deadline for application for absentee voting by electronic\/mail. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
