{"id":285910,"date":"2018-10-04T06:06:10","date_gmt":"2018-10-03T20:06:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=285910"},"modified":"2018-10-04T06:06:10","modified_gmt":"2018-10-03T20:06:10","slug":"laszlo-is-new-scc-executive-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/laszlo-is-new-scc-executive-director\/","title":{"rendered":"Laszlo is new SCC executive director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maxine Laszlo is the new executive director of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce, vice Jill Arenovski.<\/p>\n<p>Laszlo\u2019s new role was announced Wednesday during the Chamber\u2019s October membership meeting at the Fiesta Resort &amp;Spa Saipan. <\/p>\n<p>Laszlo said she recognizes the importance of the business sector and the integral role it plays in the lives of people. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe business sector is the backbone of our economy. Access to the major drivers of shelter, food, transportation, telecommunications, technology, entertainment, and other industries that advance our livelihoods are all connected to this sector. \u2026and that is why I believe so strongly in supporting our businesses through the strength of the Chamber network.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Laszlo hopes that through her experience as a community advocate, she can offer new perspecitves to Chamber members.<\/p>\n<p>In her new role, Laszlo and the SCC staff plan to incorporate more ways to add value to a Chamber membership by implementing the vision of the SCC board of directors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI look forward to executing their vision over the coming months and to listening to past, present, and prospecitve members on how the Chamber can better support their operations,\u201d says Laszlo. <\/p>\n<p>Chamber president Velma Palacios welcomes Laszlo to the SCC staff and shares the board\u2019s excitement to work with her.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaxine has already demonstrated her dedication and commitment to the people of the CNMI through her hands on experience with CARE as executive director,\u201d Palacios said. \u201cWe know the resources and connections throughout the business community will help with the smooth transition into to her new role.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Laszlo holds a master\u2019s Degree in Public Affairs concentrating in nonprofit mangement and policy analysis. Most recently, she served as the second executive director of the Commonwealth Advocates for Recovery Efforts. Laszlo also currently serves as the press officer of the Marianas Alliance for Non-Government Organizations  and vice chair of the Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster. In 2017, Laszlo was awarded the Marianas Young Professionals \u201cVolunteer of the Year.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Over the next two weeks, Laszlo is assisting the CARE Steering Committee with a succession strategy to ensure the continuity of planning for Typhoon Mangkhut long-term recovery. She starts full-time at the Chamber on Oct. 15.
