Garber, deputy director of the National Sea Grant Program.\u00a0(UNIVERSITY OF GUAM SEA GRANT PROGRAM)<br \/><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The tide continues to rise at the University of Guam Sea Grant Program. <\/p>\n<p>The National Sea Grant College Program announced a $100,000 annual increase in funding for the University of Guam. The announcement was made during the 2018 National Sea Grant Week conference, held Sept. 16\u201321 in Portland, Oregon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased the National Sea Grant College Program is increasing its investment in the University of Guam and our community,\u201d said Dr. Thomas W. Krise, president of UOG. \u201cUOG Sea Grant is an important program at UOG that brings science to our community and improves the management of our natural resources.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>UOG Sea Grant brings the science of coastal resources to the people of Guam and the Micronesia region as one of 33 programs across the nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe look forward to growing our impact in Guam and throughout the Micronesia region,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>said Dr. Austin Shelton, director of the UOG Sea Grant Program. \u201cThe additional funds will allow our program to support research and education that improves the health of coastal ecosystems and promotes environmental literacy and workforce development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The National Sea Grant College Program is a partnership between universities and the federal government\u2019s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, an agency within the Department of Commerce.
