Manglona International Airport on Rota also sustained damage from the powerful Typhoon Mangkhut that battered the island last month, according to Commonwealth Ports Authority board airport facilities committee chair Barrie C. Toves. <\/p>\n<p>Toves, in an interview with Saipan Tribune over the weekend, said a large portion of the perimeter fence was knocked down, but CPA was able to obtain resources to temporarily erect the fence with the help of the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management.<\/p>\n<p>Toves said they expecting their property insurance adjusters to go to Rota and assess the damage.<\/p>\n<p>Because CPA\u2019s airport facilities are fully insured, Toves said that CPA expects to recover payment from the loss.<\/p>\n<p>The damage to the fences have not affected airline flights.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe only time the airport suffered major setback was when there was an islandwide outage,\u201d Toves said, adding that they ran their backup generator but it also conked out in the middle of the night. <\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, Toves said, he was working at the Emergency Operations Center at the time to coordinate resources for response and recovery. \u201cI was able to see what was going on with CPA,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Toves said  they were back to normal within the next 24 hours.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The perimeter fences surrounding the Benjamin T.
