{"id":286052,"date":"2018-10-05T06:00:47","date_gmt":"2018-10-04T20:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=286052"},"modified":"2018-10-05T06:00:47","modified_gmt":"2018-10-04T20:00:47","slug":"over-140-join-bike-run-for-cure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/over-140-join-bike-run-for-cure\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 140 join Bike &#038; Run for Cure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Triathlon Association in the CNMI along with the Commonwealth Cancer Association hosted the 3rd Bike &amp; Run for Cure with more than 140 participating in last Saturday\u2019s event that aimed at promoting Prostate &amp; Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.<\/p>\n<p>Seventy bikers joined the 30-kilometer MTB race from the American Memorial Park to Banzai Cliff and back, while 72 negotiated the 5-kilometer uphill run course at the Gov. Ely S. Inos Memorial Peace Park.<\/p>\n<p>Joel Buco was the top finisher in the MTB race, while JC Libut and Willie Barbo rounded out the Top 3 in the men\u2019s field. In the women\u2019s division, youth rider JC Ferrer made it to the AMP first, while Emily Northrop and Heather Brook-Taylor came in at second and third, respectively <\/p>\n<p>TRAC and the Commonwealth Cancer Association would like to thank the following for supporting last Saturday\u2019s event: Make-A-Wish Foundation Guam and CNMI, CNMI Comprehensive Cancer Control Program, IT&amp;E, Gatorade, Pacific Islands Club Saipan, American Memorial Park, Fiesta Resort &amp; Spa Saipan, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Aqua Resort Club, and Imperial Pacific International (CNMI) LLC.<\/p>\n<p>Pre-Hell Race Series 2<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, riders returned to the road the following day after joining Bike &amp; Run for Cure to compete in the Pre-Hell Race Series 2.<\/p>\n<p>Familiar names figured in the Top 3 of the various categories with Libut leading the finishers of the nearly 28K race. Libut clocked in at 54:43 to nose out Buco (54:44), while Cesar Fortaleza completed the Top 3 in the men\u2019s division. In the women\u2019s Northtop posted 55:49 to beat Ferrer (56:28) and Taylor (58:22).<\/p>\n<p>In the 40 and below age group, Roy Dalangye (55:44) was ranked first and followed by Ernie Henzon (55:48) and Shie Meng Huan (59:02).
