The Francisco C. Ada\/Saipan International Airport will be open from 6am to 6pm and will be limited to receiving up to a maximum of six international flights a day beginning today, Oct. 28.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Commonwealth Ports Authority executive director Christopher S. Tenorio said inbound flights are limited to returning residents and humanitarian assistance.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cPassengers must communicate with the airlines directly for flight details and arrangements,\u201d Tenorio said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He said the operations will be manually processed as a large amount of equipment were damaged.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cPassenger and baggage clearance will be manually screened,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He disclosed that the Transportation Security Administration\u2019s checkpoint area has one operable screening machine.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He said all passenger loading bridges are out of service so to portable stairs will be used.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cThe stairs are also limited in reach, thus, could only be used on certain aircrafts,\u201d Tenorio said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
CPA has asked the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help bring in additional stairs.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Tenorio said the airport\u2019s power has not been restored and the generator is not able to power the entire airport at a hundred percent.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cNavigational aids are still out of service and repairs are being made in the tower\u2019s communications,\u201d he said, adding that all air-conditioning units are damaged.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
