The American Red Cross-NMI Chapter plans to visit typhoon-affected families at their homes to distribute relief goods to ensure that all those affected by the Category 5 howler would get the relief they need.<\/p>\n
John Hirsch, American Red Cross-NMI Chapter executive director, said the chapter expects its stock of relief goods to be replenished in the next three days or so and that\u2019s when they plan to do home deliveries.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe provided all our relief supplies because we didn’t have that much inventory here on Saipan because we had just given out a lot of them on Rota for [Typhoon] Mangkhut, so we\u2019re waiting for the replenishment of our supplies to come in and that should probably be in the next three days\u2026we\u2019re hopeful they will arrive by airplane and then\u2026we will start to do another round of distributions,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
The chapter aims to make the next relief distribution more targeted by reaching deep into affected villages. <\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we\u2019re probably going to do in the next round of distributions is we\u2019re going to do it more targeted\u2026we\u2019re going to be going house to house, giving out the supplies more that way\u2026\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
According to Hirsch, the chapter\u2019s volunteer needs are going to go up and down over the next few weeks. <\/p>\n
\u201cRight now we\u2019re waiting for the shipment of our emergency supplies to come in so for the next couple of days we don’t need that many volunteers, but in three or four days we might need 100 volunteers,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
