We’re not just spending it on canned goods here, canned goods there. We want to make sure that it’s getting into the hands of people who need it the most,” she said.

Hix said the money would used to buy relief goods that will be distributed directly into each village, and to purchase supplies to help clear villages of typhoon debris.

“The generosity is just so overwhelming. We’re very grateful and this is why we established a Disaster Recovery Center, so we are able to receive all these items coming in and make sure that the items are distributed effectively and directly into the villages,” she said.

MyPros also held its first orientation for volunteers who will help clean up their villages, and to assist in distributing goods from the MyPros Disaster Recovery Center.

“The main goal is to establish the largest islandwide disaster cleanup in history. We want to be able to show our business partners, our community, our leaders that we can take charge and basically mobilize and empower our people who have lost everything to rise up, together and help each other rebuild,” said Hix.

Over 75 volunteers showed up for orientation last Tuesday but, according to Hix, there are actually 209 who registered.

The Marianas Young Professionals has raised over $40,000 through their Super Typhoon Yutu relief GoFundMe…

[4
6600,233,67,23107
post-287918","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","tag-disaster-recovery-center","tag-hyatt-regency-saipan","tag-people","tag-super-typhoon-yutu
["GET
