{"id":287924,"date":"2018-11-02T06:06:41","date_gmt":"2018-11-01T20:06:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=287924"},"modified":"2018-11-02T06:06:41","modified_gmt":"2018-11-01T20:06:41","slug":"cec-to-change-designated-polling-places","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/cec-to-change-designated-polling-places\/","title":{"rendered":"CEC to change designated polling places"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commonwealth Election Commission board will hold an emergency meeting this Monday, Nov. 5, to change the designated polling places for the Nov. 13 general election.<\/p>\n<p>CEC executive director Julita A. Villagomez said they cannot use the previous final designated polling places on Saipan and Tinian as a result of Super Typhoon Yutu\u2019s devastation. Many of the polling places are schools\u2014many of which were damaged by the typhoon.<\/p>\n<p>Villagomez said the board would need to adopt the changes for designated polling sites during the emergency meeting at CEC\u2019s office in Susupe Monday at 1pm.<\/p>\n<p>Rota\u2019s designated polling place has not been changed.<\/p>\n<p>CEC had adopted the final list of designated polling places last Oct. 18.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Nov. 6, the early election for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota will commence. <\/p>\n<p>Early voting for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota was supposed to commence last Oct. 30, while the general election was originally set for Nov. 6. <\/p>\n<p>Gov. Ralph DLG. Torres last Monday postponed the early voting and the general election due to Super Typhoon Yutu\u2019s devastation on Saipan and Rota.<\/p>\n<p>Villagomez said the early voting for Saipan will be at the Pedro P.
