Also, we got a request from GES principal Leila Yumul, requesting for help to clean the field,” MP United vice president Lydia Tan said.

Thirteen players, one coach, two parents, and one club official participated in the cleanup drive, picking loose tree branches, sweeping off leaves, and clearing the area of other debris—more than week after Saipan was slammed by Super Typhoon Yutu.

“We only asked volunteers from older players in the competitive age group (U13A, U15 boys, U16 girls, and U18 boys). Some players are not able to show up for the clean up as private schools, like Saipan International School and Grace Christian Academy, have resumed their classes,” Tan said.

MP United cleaned GES for two hours, from 9am to 11am and then the grouped moved to Navy Hill field to pick up debris for one hour.

“I’m very proud of the volunteer players as they understand that we need to help the school/community and little things do help to beautify the island back. Thanks to GES principal, Ms. Leila Yumul, for their partnership and support towards MPU, for allowing us to continue using the school field,” Tan said.

Meanwhile, the MP United official said that the club’s players want to continue practicing even though the 2018 NMIFA Youth Fall League is on hold.

MP United is ahead in the team standings in the boys U18 division with its perfect 4-0-0 win-draw-loss record. It’s last game before the league suspended the season was against TanHoldings FC (Oct. 20) with MPU cruising to a 9-0 triumph.

In the boys U15 division, MP United is ranked third after holding a 2-1-1 mark. It also had a lopsided win in its last match, whipping Shirley’s FC, 8-0. For the girls U16 play, the club owns a 1-2-1 card, forcing a 2-2 draw versus Paire FC in their Oct. 20 tiff. MP United also had a draw against Kanoa-2, 2-2, in the co-ed U13A division to stay in second place in the team standings with its 2-1-1 mark.

[5
1664,18488,2156,7639
post-288265","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-sports","tag-ges","tag-leila-yumul","tag-mpu","tag-navy-hill-field
["GET
