{"id":288362,"date":"2018-11-09T06:06:39","date_gmt":"2018-11-08T20:06:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=288362"},"modified":"2018-11-09T06:06:39","modified_gmt":"2018-11-08T20:06:39","slug":"turnout-on-first-day-of-early-voting-1048","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/turnout-on-first-day-of-early-voting-1048\/","title":{"rendered":"Turnout on first day of early voting: 1,048"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although only a few voted on Tinian on the first day of the seven-day early voting Tuesday, many people chose to vote early on Saipan and Rota, resulting in an overall turnout of 1,048. <\/p>\n<p>The second day of early voting on Saipan last Wednesday slowed down, though.<\/p>\n<p>Commonwealth Election Commission administrative officer Kayla Igitol said that in Tuesday\u2019s first day of early voting, 904 cast their votes on Saipan, 30 on Tinian, and 114 on Rota\u2014a total of 1,048.<\/p>\n<p>The first day of the seven-day early voting this year is in contrast to the 2016 midterm election, which saw only 581 early voters.<\/p>\n<p>CEC executive director Julita A. Villagomez said that Wednesday\u2019s early voting was slow on Saipan compared to the first day last Tuesday where there was crowding outside the Pedro P.
