{"id":289069,"date":"2018-11-22T06:06:41","date_gmt":"2018-11-21T20:06:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=289069"},"modified":"2018-11-22T06:06:41","modified_gmt":"2018-11-21T20:06:41","slug":"tropical-storm-condition-2-for-rota","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/tropical-storm-condition-2-for-rota\/","title":{"rendered":"Tropical Storm Condition 2 for Rota"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The island of Rota was upgraded to Tropical Storm Condition 2 yesterday due to the threat of Tropical Storm Man-Yi, which is still off the coast of Chuuk as of 2pm. <\/p>\n<p>Tropical Storm Condition 2 means that damaging winds of 39 to 73 miles per hour are expected within 24 hours. <\/p>\n<p>In a bulletin issued by the CNMI Homeland Security Emergency Management Agency, acting governor Victor B. Hocog upgraded Rota yesterday to Tropical Storm Condition 2 as Tropical Storm Man-Yi\u2014previously named Tropical Storm 32W\u2014continues to intensify. <\/p>\n<p>Tropical Storm Man-Yi is expected to continue intensifying through Thursday, possibly becoming a typhoon as early as Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>Tropical Storm Man-Yi was last seen packing maximum sustained winds of 60 mph and was seen moving west-northwest at 20 mph.<\/p>\n<p>As of 2pm yesterday, Tropical Storm Man-Yi\u2019s was still off western Chuuk and is expected to maintain its course and speed through Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Man-Yi is currently about 565 miles southeast of Guam, about 580 miles southeast of Rota, and about 620 miles south-southeast of Saipan and Tinian. <\/p>\n<p>Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 110 miles.<\/p>\n<p>The CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point will be monitoring the movement of Tropical Storm Man-Yi and will be issuing bulletins as they become available. <\/p>\n<p>The Rota community is encouraged to keep a close watch on updates to weather forecasts and to stay informed on the latest statements and advisories that will be available through local media.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The island of Rota was upgraded to Tropical Storm Condition 2 yesterday due to the&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":24,"featured_media":289071,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[94],"tags":[51,1226],"class_list":["post-289069","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-headlines","tag-guam","tag-tropical-storm-condition"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/289069","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/24"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=289069"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/289069\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/289071"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=289069"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=289069"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=289069"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
