{"id":289141,"date":"2018-11-23T06:06:09","date_gmt":"2018-11-22T20:06:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=289141"},"modified":"2018-11-23T06:06:09","modified_gmt":"2018-11-22T20:06:09","slug":"gas-price-rollback-on-saipan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/gas-price-rollback-on-saipan\/","title":{"rendered":"Gas price rollback on Saipan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CNMI saw its first gas price rollback of 20918 last week, a month following the aftermath of Super Typhoon Yutu. <\/p>\n<p>Last Friday, Mobil Oil Marianas rolled back its gas prices by 10 cents.<\/p>\n<p>That mean Mobil brought their prices down from $4.53 per gallon of Extra fuel to $4.43 per gallon and their Supreme fuel is down from $4.90 per gallon to $4.80. <\/p>\n<p>Shell has yet to announce a similar price adjustment but both Shell and Mobil typically mirror each other when it comes to gas prices in the CNMI.<\/p>\n<p>Just last Oct. 11, Mobil raised its prices by 10 cents, making it the fourth gas hike of the year. That came nearly four months since the last price increase.<\/p>\n<p>The fourth price increase of the year boosted the price of Mobil\u2019s Extra fuel from $4.43 per gallon to $4.53 per gallon, while Mobil\u2019s Supreme fuel went up from $4.80 to $4.90 a gallon.<\/p>\n<p>The first gas price hike of the year was a 13-cent increase implemented on Jan. 8, 2018, raising gas prices from $3.95 to $4.08 per gallon. That was later raised after a month by 15 cents on Feb. 5, 2018, which was the second gas hike of the year. Gas went from $4.08 to $4.23 per gallon. Three months later, on May 14, the third gas price increase was at 20 cents, raising gas prices from $4.23 to $4.43 per gallon.<\/p>\n<p>According to Saipan Tribune archives, gas prices were at $3.48 in early 2016 and continued to increase until it reached $3.93 in December 2016.
