{"id":289448,"date":"2018-11-29T06:00:41","date_gmt":"2018-11-28T20:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=289448"},"modified":"2018-11-29T06:00:41","modified_gmt":"2018-11-28T20:00:41","slug":"over-500-families-get-temporary-shelters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/over-500-families-get-temporary-shelters\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 500 families get temporary shelters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The government\u2019s temporary shelter program has already provided tents to over 500 families who lost their homes following Super Typhoon Yutu.<\/p>\n<p>As of last Saturday, 586 families were provided tents that would serve as a temporary shelter until their homes are restored, according to Homeland Security Emergency Management Office spokesperson Nadine Deleon Guerrero.<\/p>\n<p>She said more tents under the Temporary Emergency Tent and Roofing Installation Support program are being erected. <\/p>\n<p>Individuals who lost their homes through Yutu who are interested in applying for the program are encouraged to sign up before Dec. 8. <\/p>\n<p>The newly created Temporary Emergency Tent and Roofing Installation Support program, or TETRIS, is prioritizing homes that sustained major damage or were completely leveled by Super Typhoon Yutu.<\/p>\n<p>The TETRIS program, which is a collaboration between the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the CNMI government, aims to help storm-impacted residents returning to or remaining in their homes while permanent repairs are being completed.<\/p>\n<p>According to Deleon Guerrero, assessments are still underway and homes that were completely damage or sustained major damage are being prioritized.<\/p>\n<p>With the huge demand for tents, individuals who are in dire need of temporary homes will be prioritized.<\/p>\n<p>There is still no numbers on the roofing program under TETRIS.
