It is the sole global brand in the CNMI to this day and that alone is tremendously valuable.

“They’ve partnered with the MVA on nearly all our marketing projects locally and international markets. They have sponsored rooms and meals for many of our special guests. They have donated funding to many organizations that help sustain the tourism industry and the list goes on,” he added.

One of the MVA’s challenges is to get the Japanese market back to the CNMI and having a Japanese-owned property operating a premium brand hotel in the CNMI contributes to MVA efforts. “I will say that the Hyatt Regency Saipan management team has been a key partner in luring air service from Japan to the CNMI and this is enormously beneficial for the tourism industry,” said Concepcion.

“Hyatt Regency Saipan also participates in nearly all overseas travel trade shows and seminars hosted by the MVA and having them there is appreciated. …They’ve contributed greatly to the community through their charitable donations, sponsorship of countless community events, sporting events, their support of all their employees which are almost all local hires, and much more. They occupy a very prestigious role as the sole global hotel chain in the CNMI and that in and of itself is a great community contribution,” he added.

Concepcion said that MVA is looking forward to Hyatt serving tourists and the people of the CNMI for another 38 years. “On behalf of the MVA board, management team and staff, we congratulate Hyatt Regency Saipan on their 38th anniversary. Having a Japanese-owned property under a global brand doing business in the CNMI is highly desirable.

“We thank Mr. Nishikawa and his entire team for all their contributions to the CNMI.
