The assistance distributions and processing for Disaster Nutritional Assistance Program has been extended a week, with thousands yet to be assessed for eligibility.<\/p>\n
DNAP application and distributions were supposed to end last Saturday, Dec. 1, but this has been extended to Dec. 7.<\/p>\n
Department of Community and Cultural Affairs Secretary Robert Hunter told Saipan Tribune over the weekend that the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Nutrition Services approved extending DNAP processing and distribution by another week only last Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n
The Torres administration affirmed Hunter\u2019s statement in a separate announcement Saturday evening<\/p>\n
The new schedule for DNAP distributions and assessments suggests that 1,699 are expected to be processed every day from Sunday onwards. <\/p>\n
DNAP numbers D09101 to D10800 would be processed today; D10801 to D12500 tomorrow; D12501 to D14200 on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018; D14201 to D15900 on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018; and D15901 to D17600 and over on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone is going to be entertained,\u201d Hunter told Saipan Tribune. \u201cIf for some reason we cannot process everybody, then we are going to ask for an additional extension [from the FNS].\u201d<\/p>\n
DCCA administers the Nutritional Assistance Program, which oversees the DNAP distributions.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will continue to provide disaster assistance to every impacted resident, as well as provide supplemental food assistance to our NAP recipients,\u201d stated a Torres administration statement. \u201cThis emergency food assistance was a big priority for us, because we know that it will help alleviate the stresses of recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n
DNAP processing was initially scheduled to end last Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018; however, the scheduled numbers for appointment were only for D06401 to D07400.
