(Contributed Photo)

The Northern Marianas Trades Institute and the Da’ok Academy are partnering to train students in the various trades offered at NMTI. Da’ok Academy is a CNMI Public School System program that provides an alternative educational setting for students who need guidance and assistance in developing their behavioral, academic, social, and emotional foundational skills to be ready for college or a career.

Da’ok Academy recently suffered a major blow to its ability to offer classes as Super Typhoon Yutu left the school in shambles. Seeing the need for an immediate resolution to offer much needed assistance, NMTI offered several of its classrooms and office space at no charge to the school.

When asked for comment NMTI CEO Agnes Mcphetres said, “We are educators first and foremost. This relationship is something we aim to grow as Da’ok has a student base that can immediately go into our trades courses with ease. It is now our responsibility to entice them into taking advantage of the one stop shop housing situation. We are thankful that PSS leadership shares the same enthusiasm at the opportunity to provide students with exploratory career programs”

Eric Evangelista, principal for Da’ok Academy, said, “there will be future discussion on how Da’ok Academy students will attain a diploma and certification in a trade skill. This is an opportunity for our students as the courses offered at NMTI would complement our offering as students attain a high school diploma. We hope that everyone takes advantage of this future partnership.” (PR)

The Northern Marianas Trades Institute and the Da’ok Academy are partnering to train students in…

[4
23414,187,479,23107
post-289723","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-local-news","tag-eric-evangelista","tag-lower-base","tag-nmti","tag-super-typhoon-yutu
["GET
