Currently, there were no reports of personnel injuries or damages to infrastructure and no tsunami warnings or advisories were issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. Training will also be conducted at W-517 today, Dec. 6, from 3pm to 7pm.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It is recommended the public, fishermen, and marine tour operators monitor the Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>W-517 is activated south of latitude 12\u00b0 40\u0092 00\u201dN. Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Banks are open for public use. W-517 begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. <\/p>\n<p>The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be in a\u00a012-nautical mile radius of the island. <\/p>\n<p>These types of trainings are designed to enhance the readiness of military personnel. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the training. <strong>(PR)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>MVA meeting on Dec. 14<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Marianas Visitors Authority\u2019s semi- annual general membership meeting will be on Dec. 14, at 10am at Fiesta Resort &amp; Spa Saipan. Guest speakers from the MVA\u2019s offshore offices will provide a recap of fiscal year 2018 projects and the MVA\u2019s marketing plans for fiscal year 2019, including post-typhoon recovery plans. Admission is $20 for MVA members and $25 for non-members. The celebration will also be highlighted by the Mochitsuki Festival, featuring the Japan tradition of rice pounding in preparation for the new year. The Christmas in the Marianas celebration, previously scheduled for Dec. 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29, 2018, is cancelled.
