All nine power feeders on Saipan are now partially online, according to Commonwealth Utilities Corp. executive director Gary P. Camacho yesterday afternoon. <\/p>\n
Camacho said Feeders Kiya 2, 3, and 4 are currently undergoing extensive repairs. Power restoration work is also in progress in As Perdido, Koblerville, and Chalan Kiya.<\/p>\n
\u201cOther smaller sections throughout the feeders will be restored as primaries and water are completed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Feeders refer to conductors that have large electric current-carrying capacity. They connect the utilities substation to the area where power is to be distributed to households, establishments, or consumers.<\/p>\n
In Kiya 2, Camacho said that CUC\u2019s crew are working on laterals in the As Lito area since Monday to provide power to residents. An estimated 7.2 percent of customers in Kiya 2 are now energized.<\/p>\n
As of last Monday, power crew continue working in Chalan Kiya areas under Kiya 3. Approximately 62.4 percent of CUC customers are now energized through Feeder 3.<\/p>\n
Since Monday, power crew continued working on Kiya 4, from Atkin\u2019s Kroll to the Townhouse building, repairing hardware, framing, and stringing of conductors.<\/p>\n
Last Monday, CUC announced that Saipan already has 63 percent power and 82 percent water, while Tinian has 20 percent power and 100 percent water.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
