Anyone who might have received less than the maximum Disaster Nutritional Assistance Program assistance is being encouraged to report the issue immediately to the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs.<\/p>\n
Responding to reports of DNAP recipients who got less than the maximum assistance, DCCA Secretary Robert Hunter told Saipan Tribune that it would be best to report it to the Nutritional Assistance Program in As Lito immediately.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf there is real substantiated evidence of that, then that should be brought back to the NAP office,\u201d Hunter said. \u201cUnless we have details, we do not have anything we can act on. [These instances] should immediately be brought to the attention of the NAP director.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt might be a simple error; it might be something else. But we would like to know that,\u201d Hunter added. <\/p>\n
NAP administrator Walter Macaranas said in a telephone call that his office has not yet received any reports about this. He is skeptical but, if that is the case, Macaranas said he agrees with Hunter that it should be reported immediately.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know how that is. [Those who claim to have received less DNAP assistance] need to come in and look at the records. I do not think that is happening,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Macaranas noted that his office hasn\u2019t received any reports as of yesterday.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf they believe they got less benefits [from DNAP], they should come in and report it,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
Saipan Tribune learned from a social media posting that one reportedly received less than $100 in DNAP assistance for a household of four. According to DNAP guidelines, the maximum monthly benefit is $944.<\/p>\n
Two others made the same claim.<\/p>\n
