{"id":290075,"date":"2018-12-11T06:00:43","date_gmt":"2018-12-10T20:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=290075"},"modified":"2018-12-11T06:00:43","modified_gmt":"2018-12-10T20:00:43","slug":"bench-trial-set-for-banes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/bench-trial-set-for-banes\/","title":{"rendered":"Bench trial set for Banes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A bench trial has been set for lawyer David George Banes, who is facing a traffic case after being cited by a police officer for reckless driving along Dandan Road.<\/p>\n<p>In a status conference last Thursday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph Camacho ordered Banes to show up for a bench trial on Jan. 28, 2019, at 9am. <\/p>\n<p>At the status conference, Banes appeared pro se, on behalf of himself. Chief prosecutor Michele Harris represented the government. <\/p>\n<p>Reckless driving is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of $1,000 or six months imprisonment or both.<\/p>\n<p>Police officer L. Lizama issued the citation versus Banes last Sept. 3.
