(PR)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Public comment period continues for draft INRMP, environmental assessment<\/p>\n<p>ASAN, Guam\u2014Joint Region Marianas reminds the community of\u00a0the 30-day public comment period concluding Dec. 13, for the draft 2018\u00a0Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan and environmental\u00a0assessment.<\/p>\n<p>In keeping with its environmental stewardship, the Navy is updating the\u00a0current 2013 INRMP to ensure that the military in the region continues to meet\u00a0its vital mission, while managing, protecting and enhancing the health of our\u00a0natural resources and ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>The new 2018 INRMP proposes to continue some existing projects from the 2013\u00a0document and introduces new projects appropriate for managing natural\u00a0resources in evolving environmental conditions and challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Those interested in learning about the Navy&#8217;s plans to protect and safeguard\u00a0natural resources in Guam and the CNMI are encouraged to visit the website at\u00a0www.jrminrmp.com and download a copy of the document, or view a hard copy at\u00a0the Nieves Flores Memorial Library in Hagatna and the Dededo Library.<\/p>\n<p>Public comments should be submitted no later than Dec. 13 by email at: w-gu-navfac-ev2-gs@fe.navy.mil\u00a0or by mail.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kumisi\u00f3n to host second CHamoru orthography training <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>HAG\u00c5T\u00d1A, Guam\u2014I Kumisi\u00f3n i Fino\u2019 CHamoru yan i Fina\u2019n\u00e5\u2019guen i Historia yan Lina\u2019la\u2019 i Taotao T\u00e5no\u2019 (The Commission on the CHamoru Language and the Teaching of the History and Culture of the Indigenous People of Guam) announces the Second Training Session on CHamoru language and the adopted Guam CHamoru Orthography. The training will be held at the Westin Resort Guam on Dec. 12, from 8am to 5pm. All participants who were registered and attended the first session on Sept. 28, 2018, are reminded to return for this second session. The third and final session will be scheduled in January 2019. Attendance at this second training in CHamoru orthography, grammar, and translation processes is a requirement for the certificate of completion as a CHamoru Language Liaison. <\/p>\n<p>Participants are urged to bring their laptop computers, their Guam CHamoru Orthography booklets, and their office samples of signage, short phrases or simple directions to be completed at this session. (PR)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Military training at FDM, Warning Area 12, Warning Area 517<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ASAN, Guam\u2014The U.S. military will conduct training in the island of Farallon de Medinilla, Warning Area 12, and Warning Area 517 on Dec. 10, 12, and 13, from 10am to 3pm.<\/p>\n<p>Training will also be conducted at W-517 on Dec. 14-15, from 9am to 2pm.<\/p>\n<p>It is recommended the public, fishermen and marine tour operators monitor the Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories.<\/p>\n<p>The general location of the training in Farallon de Medinilla will be in a 12-nautical mile radius of the island.<\/p>\n<p>W-12 begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. <\/p>\n<p>W-517 begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. The Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Banks are open for public use. <\/p>\n<p>These types of trainings are designed to enhance the readiness of military personnel. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the training. (PR)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Guam CHamoru commission meeting set<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Kumisi\u00f3n i Fino\u2019 CHamoru yan i Fina\u2019n\u00e5\u2019guen i Historia yan i Lina\u2019la\u2019 i Taotao T\u00e5no\u2019\u00a0(Commission on CHamoru Language and the Teaching of the History\u00a0and Culture of the Indigenous People of Guam)\u00a0will hold its December monthly meeting on\u00a0Dec. 13, Thursday,\u00a0from 12:30pm to 3pm. Guest speakers from the MVA\u2019s offshore offices will provide a recap of fiscal year 2018 projects and the MVA\u2019s marketing plans for fiscal year 2019, including post-typhoon recovery plans.
