The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library would be waiving late and damage fees for material affected by Super Typhoon Yutu. The library is now on island power starting yesterday, resulting in changes to its operation hours starting today.<\/p>\n
Late fees are waived for all library material due on days that the library was closed because of Yutu.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor patrons who have library materials that were damaged during Super Typhoon Yutu they must provide a list of all materials and must sign an affidavit of damage in order to be free of fines,\u201d JKPL technical services librarian Beth Demapan told\u00a0Saipan Tribune, adding that a library card number and name or book barcode must be provided with the affidavit of damage.<\/p>\n
Demapan noted that the library became operational last Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018. <\/p>\n
It was connected to the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. lines yesterday.<\/p>\n
As of today, temporary hours of library operations start from 9am to 5pm, from Tuesday to Friday. The library is also open from 9am to 3:30pm on Saturdays.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith our community needs at the forefront, the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library has worked hard to ensure that access to services is available,\u201d Demapan said, adding that the community is welcome to avail of their free computer services in filing for disaster assistance benefits such as those offered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a clean facility with air-conditioning and restrooms available. \u2026We have friendly staff on hand to assist and search for [a] book,\u201d she said. \u201cWe ask the community for your understanding and cooperation as we undergo repairs.\u201d <\/p>\n
