Power and water have been completely restored on Rota as of Dec.11, three months following the destruction wrought by Typhoon Mangkhut. <\/p>\n
According to Rota Mayor\u2019s Office press secretary Ivan Mereb, water and power has been 100 percent as of Dec. 11. <\/p>\n
Typhoon debris has also been completely cleared from the villages and it\u2019s just a matter of reviving tourist sites. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe are now working on tourist sites on the island and the back roads that are not paved,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
As for the number of homes and establishments repaired since Typhoon Mangkhut, there is currently no status report on this. <\/p>\n
Typhoon Mangkhut made landfall on Rota back on Sept. 10, 2018. Mangkhut was projected to intensify into a Category 4 typhoon as it approached the Marianas. A Category 4 typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 130-156 mph (209-251 kmh).<\/p>\n
In comparison, according to a Wikipedia entry, the Joint Typhoon Warning Center assessed Typhoon Soudelor, which hit Saipan in August 2015, as a Category 5-equivalent super typhoon, with a minute sustained winds of 180 mph (285 kmh).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
