{"id":291253,"date":"2019-01-04T06:00:22","date_gmt":"2019-01-03T20:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=291253"},"modified":"2019-01-04T06:00:22","modified_gmt":"2019-01-03T20:00:22","slug":"nmcs-pm-classes-resume-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/nmcs-pm-classes-resume-monday\/","title":{"rendered":"NMC\u2019s PM classes resume Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Northern Marianas College would be resuming its afternoon and evening classes on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Interim NMC president Frankie Eliptico noted that the three-week holiday break officially ends next week and that classes would be resuming in the afternoon at NMC\u2019s temporary campus at Saipan Southern High School.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited to see our students after the holiday season,\u201d said Eliptico, who also thanked Education Commissioner Glenn Muna and the officials of SSHS for hosting the NMC students temporarily.<\/p>\n<p>With the As Terlaje campus sustaining extensive damage from Super Typhoon Yutu, Eliptico said the relocation to the high school was necessary to enable the college to continue its fall semester.<\/p>\n<p>Morning classes would resume once the college moves back to its As Terlaje campus on Feb. 11, 2019. The first week of February 2019 also marks the end of the 2018 fall semester at NMC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are extremely thankful to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Army Corps of Engineers, and others who are working even through the holiday season to ensure that the students have sufficient classroom space on our campus to continue our semester here,\u201d said Eliptico. He noted in a previous interview that the As Terlaje campus is being prepared for the installation of temporary classrooms.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 24 temporary classrooms would be set up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough we\u2019ll be in temporary structures, it\u2019ll be great to have our students back in As Terlaje,\u201d Eliptico said.<\/p>\n<p>The college\u2019s spring semester classes will begin in the first week of April.
