The House of Representatives presented Dr. Bobby Cruz with a special resolution in their session last week, commending the former Marianas High School vice principal\u2019s contributions to the CNMI in the field of education.<\/p>\n

Cruz, who is currently the director of Instructional Technology & Distance Learning at the Public School System, believes that education as a tool does not only improve one\u2019s long-term status in life but also affects one\u2019s attitude and social change.<\/p>\n

This was borne out by his doctoral research, which focused on one\u2019s mindset that influences future success.<\/p>\n

What I found out is that how you think greatly impacts whether you succeed or fail,\u201d he said. \u201c\u2026I would be able to perpetuate that message, especially for the youth of the CNMI, that they would adopt a mindset that\u2019s going to help them to succeed [and] ultimately\u2026the CNMI. That is my commitment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cruz believes this is achievable, with PSS partnering with the Legislature and local community organizations like the Marianas Young Professionals, of which he is a part of.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis [House resolution] means a lot to me. \u2026I see this resolution as a challenge\u2026on how to answer the question, \u2018What\u2019s next?\u2019 \u2026I feel that you\u2026are calling me to do greater things. I hope that I could do you justice in continuing to serve the CNMI,\u201d Cruz told the House lawmakers.<\/p>\n

He also thanked his family for the support that they have given him through the years. \u201cI\u2019m blessed to have the family that I have. My grandfather is still alive, which I am still thankful for. He says that he is still young and he acts like it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis resolution is dedicated to my entire family. Above all else, it is dedicated to my mom, who has sacrificed so much for us. To my sister [Bonny Lynn], my partner Dan, my brother-in-law [Billy Grow], to all of you guys, you are special to me.
