(Erwin Encinares)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The CNMI State Board of Education witnessed yesterday during a special board meeting the oath-taking of the new Saipan representative, Andrew Orsini, who was sworn into the 16th BOE on Capital Hill. <\/p>\n<p>Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio administered the oath taking.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will listen to the advice you gave me,\u201d said Orsini during his brief remarks yesterday after taking his oath, addressing outgoing BOE Saipan representative Herman Guerrero, who said in a separate interview that his advice to Orsini was to listen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will continue to listen to our parents, teachers, and students. It is because of listening that I am here today, and listening is what I have been doing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>BOE chair Marylou Ada commended Orsini\u2019s optimism, saying, \u201cI was very touched by his speech.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> \u201cIt\u2019s nice to have a breath of fresh air in the BOE, so we are looking forward to working with him,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>The Rota representative on the board, Herman Atalig, said in a separate interview that Orsini\u2019s experience in the public sector would provide a unique insight to the board\u2019s future discussions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know that if we collaborate on any issues\u2026pertaining to our Public School System family, I know that he can contribute\u2026to the BOE, and I definitely welcome him to the board,\u201d he said. \u201cI know that he will be a team player for all the students, teachers, and families.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>BOE vice chair and third Saipan representative Janice Tenorio predicts that Orsini would be an asset to the BOE.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Both Orsini and I] worked at the Civil Service Commission [on] human resources, he is [a former] Commonwealth Utilities Corp. human resources manager,\u201d she noted. \u201cHe is family, literally.
