Grace Christian Academy dismantled Agape Christian School in two sets, as games in the 2018-2019 Commonwealth Coalition of Private Schools Association Volleyball League resumed last Monday after a month-long holiday break.<\/p>\n

The Lady Eagles outclassed Agape, showing consistency in both sets for the 25-11, 25-10 victory at the latter\u2019s home turf in Middle Road. GCA\u2019s Anna Nunez sealed the deal in both sets after calmly delivering the winning serves. Despite leading the Lady Eagles\u2019 win, Nunez insisted that her teammates played just as much of a crucial role as she did in the triumph.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a really good feeling to be able to finish the two sets, but all of the team members worked so hard for us to be able to win,\u201d Nunez said. \u201cOur teamwork was the key.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the opening set, Karina Dilse fired away from the server\u2019s spot at will for GCA, as she was able to complete 10 consecutive serves against the Lady Torchbearer defense. Jasmine Phan and Clerisse Dacumos also contributed to the Lady Eagles\u2019 cause as they served up a variety of spikes and tips which left their opponents scrambling on defense. Both Phan and Dacumos were reinserted into GCA\u2019s lineup after they missed the team\u2019s last game in 2018.<\/p>\n

\u201cClerisse and Jasmine are both very talented players, so having them back on the court is very helpful,\u201d Nunez said. \u201cWhen they returned, it\u2019s like two family members came back.\u201d <\/p>\n

During the second and final set, Sunny Woo and Nunez strung together five consecutive serves. With the Lady Eagles getting solid games from several players, they took both sets with relative ease.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, two more matches in the girls division were played last Monday.<\/p>\n

At the Saipan International School court in As Lito, SIS 1 needed three sets to dispatch SIS 2, 25-8, 22-25, 15-4. Over at the Mt. Carmel School court in Chalan Kanoa, MCS varsity made light work of the school\u2019s junior varsity squad, 25-13, 25-13.<\/p>\n

The boys division matches also resumed last Monday and results will be reported in Saipan Tribune\u2019s Thursday edition along with the title match between GCA 1 and Agape 1 in the middle school division. The finale was played yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Then for today\u2019s games, SIS 2 will be hosting GCA and SIS 1 will be welcoming MCS JV team. In other matches, Agape girls and boys teams will be playing against MCS girls varsity and boys squads at the latter\u2019s grass court.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
