{"id":291921,"date":"2019-01-16T06:06:02","date_gmt":"2019-01-15T20:06:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=291921"},"modified":"2019-01-16T06:06:02","modified_gmt":"2019-01-15T20:06:02","slug":"dps-burglaries-continue-to-subside","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/dps-burglaries-continue-to-subside\/","title":{"rendered":"DPS: Burglaries continue to subside"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The number of burglaries on Saipan after Super Typhoon Yutu continues to subside following the arrest of three unidentified suspects, according to the Department of Public Safety. <\/p>\n<p>During the inauguration ceremony last Monday, DPS Commissioner Robert Guerrero told the media that burglaries started to die down following the arrest of the three individuals. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cFortunately, there hasn&#8217;t been much activity going on out there\u2026 burglaries have started to slow down, we\u2019ve managed to catch the [perpetrators]\u2026so hopefully that&#8217;s all there is to it,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>According to Guerrero, about a month following Super Typhoon Yutu, the department was receiving one to two reports or burglaries or attempted burglaries every night. <\/p>\n<p>Guerrero did not disclose the name of the individual the DPS believes is responsible for at least 11 of the reported burglaries following Super Typhoon Yutu. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe haven\u2019t had that much burglaries lately compared to that whole month that there were burglaries almost every day. We\u2019ve caught three or more people that we believe are responsible for all of it, for 11 of them at least\u2026it was a ring of three people\u2026we caught them with some of the stuff that were stolen,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>Guerrero said he did not have an estimate, at the moment, of how many reported burglaries the department has looked into since Yutu.<\/p>\n<p>Guerrero is hopeful that the pattern in burglaries continues to die down so that everyone can continue to move forward. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve had theft here and there, mostly inside issues but burglaries have died down\u2026there\u2019s not that much and hopefully it stays that way\u2026 for now, we have to move forward from here,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>The most recent reported burglary incident was the burglary of popular floral arrangement shop Island Touch by Philip.<\/p>\n<p>According to a public Facebook post made by shop owner and manager Philip Canuto, his store located across the Saipan Community School in Susupe was broken into and was burglarized. <\/p>\n<p>Canuto allegedly lost many of his personnel belongings. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The number of burglaries on Saipan after Super Typhoon Yutu continues to subside following the&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":24,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[900],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-291921","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-featured"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/291921","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/24"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=291921"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/291921\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=291921"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=291921"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=291921"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
