He noted that the projection was based on the 2010 CNMI Census, which indicated 14,406 households on Saipan and 874 households on Tinian.

However, Macaranas reported that preliminary figures indicated 17,028 households received DNAP for both islands combined, an additional 1,748 households more than expected. He did not disclose the final figure for DNAP distributions.

“The DNAP projected issuance was $8,193,802 for an estimate of 12,409 households and $369,032 of disaster supplements for estimate of 2,871 households for Saipan and Tinian,” he said, breaking down the projections for both islands.

Emergency food assistance on Tinian was operated from Nov. 15, 2018 through Nov. 21, 2018, while Saipan was from Nov. 25, 2018 through Dec. 1, 2018.

While DNAP distributions for both islands exceeded projections, Macaranas noted that 158 DNAP applications were denied due to excess income or excess resources. Specifically, 140 households on Saipan were denied and 18 were denied for Tinian.

“The funding used to disburse the DNAP and Supplemental benefits came from the FY 2018 NAP block grant carryover funds and the [Enhanced Nutritional Assistance Program] grant. In terms of the regular NAP program, operation will continue as usual,” Macaranas noted.

The Nutritional Assistance Program under the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs yesterday noted that…

[4

post-291960","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-local-news
["GET
