{"id":292305,"date":"2019-01-22T06:06:01","date_gmt":"2019-01-21T20:06:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=292305"},"modified":"2019-01-22T06:06:01","modified_gmt":"2019-01-21T20:06:01","slug":"dpw-working-on-marpi-landfills-side-slope","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/dpw-working-on-marpi-landfills-side-slope\/","title":{"rendered":"DPW working on Marpi landfill\u2019s side slope"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nearly three months following the onslaught of Super Typhoon Yutu, the Department of Public Works and their partner agencies continue to work tirelessly to rid the island of typhoon debris. <\/p>\n<p>DPW continues on with the segregation process and continues to fill up the slide slopes of Marpi landfill\u2019s cell one. <\/p>\n<p>According to a previous interview with Enrique Dela Cruz, DPW\u2019s Solid Waste Management director, said although there has been a lot of trash and debris entering the Marpi dump recently, it only continues to fill the slide slope of cell one. <\/p>\n<p>Although they are still working on the side slope, DPW is working on the construction of cell three in order to open cell two. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHopefully we don\u2019t take too long because I look at this as kind of urgent\u2026We already have a proposal that we\u2019re evaluating out of the four and they\u2019re the ones that\u2019s going to be doing the architect and engineering to construct cell three,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>Dela Cruz explained that it\u2019s necessary to construct cell three before opening up cell two to prevent the contamination of ground water. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have to prevent that storm water that\u2019s holding up in cell two, we have to prevent them from migrating into cell three\u2026if there\u2019s leeching that\u2019s going to contaminate the ground water,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>Dela Cruz said that DPW and its partner agencies like the Saipan Mayor\u2019s Office is still currently working on picking up the remaining typhoon debris and segregating them before dumping them in the landfill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re doing a lot of separation especially for construction debris from the typhoon\u2026We\u2019re doing our best\u2026. all the good people of Public Works are doing their best,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>In a previous interview with Department of Homeland Security public relations officer Nadine Deleon Guerrero, she said that DPW and the Saipan Mayor\u2019s Office have been doing an amazing job in terms of debris removal. <\/p>\n<p>Branford, Florida-based Capstone Pacificas has also been hiring CNMI residents to clear typhoon debris. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nearly three months following the onslaught of Super Typhoon Yutu, the Department of Public Works&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":24,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[900],"tags":[1114],"class_list":["post-292305","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-featured","tag-dpw"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/292305","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/24"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=292305"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/292305\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=292305"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=292305"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=292305"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
