{"id":292563,"date":"2019-01-25T06:06:51","date_gmt":"2019-01-24T20:06:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=292563"},"modified":"2019-01-25T06:06:51","modified_gmt":"2019-01-24T20:06:51","slug":"cec-targets-printing-4k-ballots-for-special-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/cec-targets-printing-4k-ballots-for-special-election\/","title":{"rendered":"CEC targets  printing 4K  ballots for  special election"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commonwealth Election Commission is targeting of printing about 4,000 ballots for the March 23, 2019 special election for the vacant seat of the House of Representatives for Precinct 3. <\/p>\n<p>CEC administrative officer Kayla S. Igitol also disclosed that votes for the special election will be manually counted.<\/p>\n<p>Igitol said the ballots will be printed locally and not from off-island that they did for last Nov. 13 general election. <\/p>\n<p>As of last week, there were 3,803 registered voters for Precinct 3. CEC closed the registration for Precinct 3 last Wednesday or the day when Gov. Ralph DLG Torres signed the proclamation setting the March 23 special election.<\/p>\n<p>CEC also started last Wednesday accepting request for absentee ballots and also opened the submission for nominating petition and candidacy.<\/p>\n<p>Igitol said based on the last Nov. 13 election, there were 394 absentee ballots.<\/p>\n<p>She said for this special election, their projection is to have 350 absentee voters.<\/p>\n<p>The CEC board has yet to decide as to the designated polling place.<\/p>\n<p>The passing of representatuve Francisco S. Dela Cruz (R-Saipan) last Jan. 6, resulted in a vacant House seat. Dela Cruz won his re-election bid in the last Nov. 13 election, finishing fifth among 13 candidates.
