{"id":293178,"date":"2019-02-05T06:00:54","date_gmt":"2019-02-04T20:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=293178"},"modified":"2019-02-05T06:00:54","modified_gmt":"2019-02-04T20:00:54","slug":"fajardo-first-to-file-candidacy-for-special-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/fajardo-first-to-file-candidacy-for-special-election\/","title":{"rendered":"Fajardo first to file candidacy for special election"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mariano DLG Fajardo, an independent candidate, had filed his candidacy before the Commonwealth Election Commission for the special election for a vacant Precinct 3 seat in the House of Representatives.<\/p>\n<p>CEC executive director Julita Villagomez disclosed yesterday that Fajardo submitted his nominating petition and candidacy documents last Friday, making him the first candidate to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Villagomez said Fajardo was accompanied by his wife and his committee-to-elect.<\/p>\n<p>Fajardo landed ninth place among the 12 candidates for Precinct 3 during the general election last Nov. 13. There are six Precinct 3 seats. <\/p>\n<p>With the passing of representative Francisco D. Dela Cruz last month, a special election will be held on March 23 to fill the vacant seat.<\/p>\n<p>Dela Cruz landed fifth in the election.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Edmund Villagomez, an independent, obtained the highest number of votes. Former representative Donald Cabrera Barcinas got the seventh position.<\/p>\n<p>As of last Jan. 28, there were 3,361 registered voters for Precinct 3.
