{"id":293239,"date":"2019-02-06T06:00:34","date_gmt":"2019-02-05T20:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=293239"},"modified":"2019-02-06T06:00:34","modified_gmt":"2019-02-05T20:00:34","slug":"china-school-donates-recycling-bins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/china-school-donates-recycling-bins\/","title":{"rendered":"China school donates recycling bins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An international school in China donated recycling bins to a school on Saipan last week under the project called 2017-2018 Exhibition Ocean Pollution.<\/p>\n<p>The International School of Tianjin donated $400 worth of recycling bins to the Brilliant Star Montessori School on Navy Hill.<\/p>\n<p>Ocean Plus Saipan Dive Shop personnel Ning Ning Li told\u00a0Saipan Tribune\u00a0that a student of the school, You Yan Zhao, led the project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[They] made recycling bags\u2026[and sold] paintings in an exhibition [in China],\u201d she said in an email. \u201cThey donated a total of $400 and asked me to help them buy the recycling bins.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The Ocean Plus Saipan Dive Shop, an instructor development center, supports any kind of environmental project, she said.<\/p>\n<p>It was this project that pushed Li to contact Brilliant Star.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[They are] very involved in educating their students and the public about reducing ocean pollution and being responsible ocean environment stewards,\u201d Brilliant Star Montessori School principal Riched Sikkel noted. \u201cWith the funds raised, [Li] bought recycling bins to help motivate students on Saipan.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Li used the $400 to buy 10 steel recycling bins for donation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince Brilliant Star School has had a recycling program for the last decade to teach our students the value of reduce, reuse, and recycle, they decided to donate the recycling bins to our school.
