{"id":293269,"date":"2019-02-06T06:00:08","date_gmt":"2019-02-05T20:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=293269"},"modified":"2019-02-06T06:00:08","modified_gmt":"2019-02-05T20:00:08","slug":"man-in-alleged-machete-attack-pleads-guilty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/man-in-alleged-machete-attack-pleads-guilty\/","title":{"rendered":"Man in alleged machete attack pleads guilty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The man who allegedly slapped and attacked another man with a machete has pleaded guilty. <\/p>\n<p>Daniel Shadel, 33, pleaded guilty yesterday to assault and battery and disturbing the peace and was sentenced to 364 days in prison. <\/p>\n<p>His sentence was suspended except for the 31 days he has already served. <\/p>\n<p>Shadel was also sentenced to probation for 364 days and was required to pay court fees, probation fees, and to served 100 hours of community service. <\/p>\n<p>Shadel\u2019s bail of $1,000 was exonerated. <\/p>\n<p>Shadel was arrested last year for assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace. <\/p>\n<p>According to police, the victim was with some of his friends at a home of another friend in Koblerville on March 3, 2018, when Shadel arrived, slapped the victim in the face, retrieved a machete from his car, and allegedly swung the machete at the victim.<\/p>\n<p>Another friend intervened and told Shadel to stop. Shadel returned the machete to his car but allegedly slapped the victim again.<\/p>\n<p>Shadel left the house after seeing that the house\u2019s owner had called the police. A police officer later found the vehicle and Shadel along Bibingka Avenue in Koblerville and arrested him at 4:33am that same day.
