Hopwood Middle School and their parents look forward to a new temporary campus, according to school principal Dr. Rizalina Liwag.

Citing the recent Hopwood Parent Teacher Students Association meeting, Liwag said that both students and parents alike are looking forward to the new temporary campus next to the Koblerville Elementary School.

“The [students] are very excited, the teachers are excited, and the parents are excited. Of course, this is something different [from where the students] used to be, but we are excited to have our own [campus] and [revert back to] full-day sessions,” Liwag said Friday.

She noted that there are additional after-school activities in store for the students.

“Everybody is looking forward to moving to the temporary campus this Feb. 19, 2019,” she said.

Education Commissioner Glenn Muña reported during a Board of Education meeting last Wednesday that the 42 temporary classrooms are finally complete and all that remains is for the connection of utilities.

According to Liwag, some parents were concerned about how the Public School System would feed the students, since the temporary campus lacks a cafeteria. Liwag noted that food would be delivered to the campus.

“We made an arrangement with our vendor and the Child Nutrition Program to make sure that breakfast, lunch, and snacks would be delivered to the classrooms,” she noted.

Liwag further emphasized that the campus is fully equipped with 28 cubicles in their state-of-the art restrooms and air conditioning.

Once the students revert back to the full-day schedules, the regular times of 8:30am to 3:20pm, with breakfast starting at 7:45am, will be enforced.

Both students of the Herbert G.
