{"id":293753,"date":"2019-02-13T06:06:47","date_gmt":"2019-02-12T20:06:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=293753"},"modified":"2019-02-13T06:06:47","modified_gmt":"2019-02-12T20:06:47","slug":"high-risk-of-rip-currents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/high-risk-of-rip-currents\/","title":{"rendered":"High risk of rip currents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, a trade-wind swell will continue to produce a high risk of rip currents along east facing reefs the next few days. <\/p>\n<p>That means there is a high risk of rip currents on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota through Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>Along east facing reefs, surf of 8 to 10 feet will maintain a high risk of rip currents through at least Friday night. <\/p>\n<p>The public is being advised to avoid venturing near reefs and beaches, especially those facing east. Strong rip currents will be life threatening. If you become caught in a rip current, remain calm, swim parallel to shore then back toward the beach when possible. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags, and signs.
